Cardio Strategies. We believe that heart-thumping, foot-stomping exercise should be a fun part of your daily routine. So we do our best to mix it up help you meet the current guidelines of the American Heart Association and the College of Sports Medicine of either moderately intense cardio 30 minutes a day, five days a week or vigorously intense cardio 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week. Add eight to 10 strength-training exercises, eight to 12 repetitions of each exercise twice a week and you've got a well-rounded fitness routine! Click here to view our Group Fitness Schedule.
Group Cycling. We're Not Just Spinning Our Wheels Here! The average 45-minute group cycling class burns 350 to more than 600 calories. To ensure you get the most out of your workout Opt for padded bicycle shorts to make your virtual voyage as comfortable as possible and arrive with plenty of hydration - you'll power through a bottle of water in no time.Be sure to adjust the seat to fit your stride. Too long a reach and you'll slip off the seat; too short, and you'll threaten your muscles and derive limited benefits from your exercise session. According to the American Council on Exercise, the upstroke knee should never exceed hip level, while the downstroke knee should be 85 per cent straight. Click here to view our Spin Class Schedule.
Strength Training. Strength training is essential for total body health. Weights and resistance build the strength and endurance of skeletal muscles, battle osteoporosis and, by the way, ramp up your calorie-burning potential. And there's nothing better than a sleek, toned look. Our strength training classes give you the tools and the techniques, and our personal trainers customize programs to meet your individual needs.
Group Training. The benefits of group fitness, and the use of lively sound to keep things moving, are as old as the Roman Empire. Back then, rowers plied the waves to the beat of a drum that kept them synchronized and steady. At Equalize, we use a slightly more sophisticated sound system to achieve the sound benefits of group fitness. These motivating sessions, taught by experienced professionals, keep you literally on your toes and fully engaged. How well do music and muscle movement blend? A recent University of Wisconsin study revealed that music enables you to push harder and achieve better results - sometimes, without you realizing what you've accomplished. The scientists found that setting exercise to music actually improved performance by as much as 15 per cent. So Equalize your total fitness approach by mixing in some motivating group experiences. Your heart will thank you.
